Glucosamine sulphate is a naturally occurring chemical found in the human body. It is used by the body to produce a variety of other chemicals that are involved in building tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and the thick fluid that surrounds joints.
Some researchers think the “sulphate” part of glucosamine sulphate is also important. It is needed by the body to produce cartilage. This is one reason why researchers believe that glucosamine sulphate might work better than other forms of glucosamine such as glucosamine hydrochloride or N-acetyl glucosamine. These other forms do not contain sulphate.
Cartilage is needed by the body to prevent bones from rubbing together and for absorbing shock when we walk and move. As the body ages, however, the level of glucosamine naturally found in cartilage decreases, which may lead to reduced amounts of cartilage existing between joints. This is known as arthritis. This results in more joint friction, pain and stiffness. By taking glucosamine supplements your body may either increase the cartilage and fluid surrounding joints or help prevent breakdown of these substances, or maybe even both!
At Purely Health Direct we only ever use marine-sourced Glucosamine (Inferior animal sources are not suitable), in the form glucosamine sulphate 2KCL.
Glucosamine as a dietary supplement has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years and is one of the most popular supplements in the UK.
Scientific studies have found that in the body, Glucosamine helps in the rebuilding and maintenance of cartilage.
