Information:

Calcified Atlantic seaweed is a distinctive natural source of calcium. Harvested from pristine, clear North Atlantic waters. Atlantic seaweed is rich with calcium, magnesium and significant levels of trace minerals. It’s uniquely porous structure forms during the seaweed’s growth phase when it absorbs natural minerals found in the ocean waters. The minerals then calcify to create a skeletal structure that can be harvested.

Vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) controls calcium regulating proteins in the vascular tissue which keeps calcium out of the arteries and prevents the formation of dangerous calcified plaques, which can lead to heart disease. When taking Vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) it will help increase bone mineral density and mechanical strength by enhancing the bones natural collagen architecture. This in turn will reduce the incidence of bone fractures, osteoporosis and even certain types of cancer.

Vitamin K is widely known as the liver requires it to manufacture blood clotting proteins, therefore dietary requirements focus on this. Subsequently this has meant that the larger amount needed to maintain healthy bones and arteries is not the one suggested in your RDA. Vitamin K1 is found in leafy, green vegetables and is the dominant form of vitamin K, however vitamin K2 found in organ meats, egg yolks and dairy food is found to be the more important inducer of bone mineralisation in human osteoblasts (bone building cells).
